Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founding Acharariat (spiritual teacher) of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, established the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) in 1970 to bring Vedic literature from the authoritative chain of gurus to the people of the modern age. For the first time in history, through Srila Prabhupada's translations and commentaries, the world's deepest philosophical tradition soon began to have a serious impact on the broad Western audience. Hundreds of scientists around the world have studied Srila Prabhupada's books; thorough scholarship and devotion to original Sanskrit texts; they have been commended for his unmatched ability to convey the deepest and most nuanced philosophical topics in such a simple and easy-to-understand manner. The Encyclopædia Britannica reports that the volumes of translations and clear commentary from the original Sanskrit language "stunned literary and academic circles around the world."
